Wunderman, Rocotta & Kline Founded
In 1958 Lester Wunderman, Irving Wunderman, Ed Ricotta and Harry Kline (founders of Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline) leave Maxwell Sackheim & Co. to pursue their ambition of creating an agency that is much more than the typical mail order agency prevalent in the industry at the time. In addition to their ambition to create a new type of agency, they have new ideas and attitudes about how to sell products and Disciplines, to develop and grow businesses for clients. In 1958, Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline opens its doors in New York City with a staff of seven. There are no clients. Nevertheless, WRK attracts more than $2 million in billings during its first year.
